I Can't Go Back.

Sad to hear, but my hometown where I was born is being evacuated. Apparently the Yokota Air Base (Yokota, Japan) where my brother and I first lived, could be affected by the damage to those reactors. I really intended on going back to visit that place at least once. Now, we’ll have to wait and see.

I Like Words and Stuff.

So I’m a sucker for words, and I like it when things are moving on the screen. Put those two together using a program like Adobe After Effects and you get something like Spout. Check out the developers collect3 doing their thing:

BONUS kinetic typography video that has nothing to do with the aformentioned app. It’s unreleased and was originally supposed to be on Lupe Fiasco’s first LP “Food and Liquor”. Big ups to my homie Flowside for the find.

alexandra's anti-asian video about "manners" | angry asian man

This is one ignorant heaux. I’m Asian, but I’m not offended only ‘cause the autotune remix made up for it.

Much love to Japan, my first home.

I haven’t been back since I was 3, but it’s crazy that I remember vividly how the house was laid out. For all I know, that house could be gone. Much love and support goes out to my Japanese homies and my first home.

Lupe Fiasco's "Lasers" LP

It only took 2 years, but I’m definitely lookin’ forward to Lupe’s 3rd album. At one point, Lupe was my favorite lyricist, but I’m not sure what to expect from “Lasers”. I only heard two tracks, “I’m Beaming” (Prod. by The Neptunes) and “The Show Goes On”, it sounds so radical compared to all the other stuff we hear on the radio. While Lupe’s influence on the hip hop scene is positive, his unique message in this album may not connect with everyone.

I was fortunate enough to see him perform at Temple University back in 2009, and I don’t think I ever saw someone as hype as him during his performance (except for maybe N*E*R*D). Initially, I didn’t understand the direction he wanted to go in with “We Are Lasers” (the original album’s title), but looking back on that performance and his explanation of “Lasers” makes a lot more sense in the context of the rest of the album. Hopefully he lives up to the hype behind this release.

It’s Hella Late, But…

I decided to start this blog now, before 3AM. Facebook and Twitter only do so much for me, so I needed some room to expand. You can expect insight on current events, introspect and philosophy, and all sorts of ignorance mixed in for good measure. It’s about 2:57AM right now.. Seacrest, out.
